CHAMP

Let me introduce you to the Critical Hazard Analysis Management Program (CHAMP). Over the years I have seen the difficulties faced by Managers when implementing Visible Leadership Programs and achieving targets designed to get people out in the field walking the talk and leading by example. Does your current process work and are you getting value for the time and effort being put into the program by your employees? The answer needs to be yes otherwise why are you doing it?

My offer is to map your process and see what it looks like!

Ask yourself this question – Are the observations and validations conducted in the field today being completed by the right person, looking at the right thing at the right time, and are you engaging your contractors? If the answer is yes, you may be getting close to achieving best practice. If not, how can you feel confident that your critical controls are working and being used correctly by employees out in the field?

Here is one example using a mind map – Visible Leadership observation and validation process

Its all about managing risks – A risk register is a critical business tool that informs a management team that they have effective controls in place managing their business risks, or that appropriate interim controls are in place to keep the business operating and people safe as warranted.

Does your business have a comprehensive, written, verified and managed risk register?

Risk Register templates can be simple by design or built to contain self generated reports, graphs and other business specific information. Do you need some help? Risk workshops can be facilitated on request.

Has your business identified all the critical hazards out in the workplace?

Has your business identified appropriate controls are in place to manage those identified critical hazards?

Has a subject matter expert confirmed that the critical controls are appropriate to manage the risk/s?

Has a Leader or an approved Company expert verified in the field that the critical controls are being used correctly by your employees?

Do you have a method to verify critical control compliance should you be asked by the Regulator?

Are your critical controls being verified by the right people, at the right time, at the right place and with your contractors?
